In the Anglican Communion we give thanks for the bonds of fellowship strengthened through the Lambeth Conference. We pray for our Anglican Communion and for those whose decisions and prayers continue to shape our future as a church.

In New Zealand we pray for those who have been greatly affected by recent bad weather. We uphold the farmer whose stock was washed away, and those who have had property damaged. We especially pray for the people who are feeling ‘down’ after a long period of poor weather – asking for sunshine for them to lift their spirits and restore to them the joy of living.

In our Diocese we pray for St. Mary’s Pro Cathedral today as we celebrate the Confirmation of Tina-Marie Valentine and also as we meet afterwards to endorse the decision of General Synod making St. Mary’s a full cathedral.

We pray for God’s continued blessing and provision as we seek to serve Christ in this place and maintain the rich heritage we have been entrusted with in this corner of the Lord’s vineyard.

SIDESPERSONS’ ROSTER REMINDER

Next Sunday our helpers are: D. Frank, G. Ormrod, P. Jefferies, J. Clark

CALLED BY NAME

God knew the oppression and misery of the Hebrews.  God acted, securing Moses’ survival, safety, and education.  As an adult, Moses killed an Egyptian while defending the life of a Hebrew slave, then fled to Midian.  It is here that we pick up the story.

God’s call changed Moses’ life completely, and his response shaped the Israelite community.  Moses became the model prophet – his call the model call for all prophets.  God continues to call us to faithful action.  What “burning bushes” have you experienced – places and times when God’s call has come clearly?  In what ways have other people’s stories of both the suffering and joy of following God’s way encouraged and strengthened you?
