Tēnā koutou katoa.
Taranaki Cathedral is the newest Cathedral in the Anglican Communion - dedicated as a Church in 1864 and as a Cathedral in 2010. May you find here a "thin" place, bordering heaven and earth - a place to encounter Jesus the "Living Bread", and "The Water of Life". A Eucharistic community defined by our prayer, love and Godly action. Home for your pilgrimage, and, full of wonder, a deeper awareness of God's love for you and this world - no matter who you are, or from where you have physically or spiritually journeyed. In Christ we are ONE. Lift up your heads - oh you gates. Fling wide the doors; and enter in.
The Dean, The Very Revd Jamie Allen
Day of Prayer and Pilgrimage
On March 17th, Taranaki Cathedral will hold a day of Quiet Prayer as we acknowledge, before God, the 150th Anniversary of the incident which sparked the beginning of the New Zealand land wars. There will be the opportunity to sit in quiet prayer and to light a candle in the chapel to signify God's peace beyond all understanding. There will also be a pilgrimage organised for those who wish, prayerfully and gently, to walk and to pray. The Cathedral will be open for prayer on the 17th March from 6am until midnight. Drop in; stay for a few minutes or for hours. For more information, please contact dean@taranakicathedral.org.nz
